Invitation Timeline

There are so many things you need to consider and remember when planning your wedding.
I’ve been working on a few tips that should help guide you with your wedding invitations.

I’ve done this timeline before, but I just revamped it for the upcoming bridal show so I thought I would post it for you all.

A few important dates:

6 – 9 months before wedding ~ Send out Save the Dates (if you have a lot of far away guests that need to plan and budget towards traveling for your big day you may want to consider sending out this special note to them. They can be done in a number of styles but my favorite is to have Engagement photos taken and do a post card style save the date, you can write a short note on the back and you save money not using envelopes.

6 Months before wedding ~ Discuss and order your custom invitations with your designer, this process sometimes takes a while to get just perfect so make sure you give yourself lots of time to get this done, once you have approval the final invitation allow approx 2 weeks for them to get printed and assembled for you, also factor in if they need to be shipped to you or if you can pick them up locally.

2-3 Months before wedding ~ Send out your invitations, again if you have far away guests you may want to do this a bit sooner but it’s just a general rule to send them out a few months a head of time in case your date is during the busy wedding season or vacation time. Most of the time guests traveling will take extra vacation days to sight see and relax before or after your big event!

Post wedding ~ We know you are busy after your wedding. You’re back to work or maybe you moved or bought a new house. Always make sure you take the time to thank your guests for attending your big day and for any special gifts they may have given you. An extra special way to thank your guests is with a custom thank you card, it may have a unique photo of you both that you love on the front or jut have text “Thank You, Love the Newlyweds” they could also be customized with your new last name 🙂 Check out our online Etsy store for a few Thank You card ideas.   *remember if you have moved to include your new address in the card.
